About Puget Sound Animal Hospital for Surgery
Puget Sound Animal Hospital for Surgery was founded in Kirkland, Washington, in 1980 by Dr. Mark Engen. Our practice consists of two board-certified veterinary surgeons and a professional support team of licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and front office staff. It is our goal for your visit to our clinic with your pet to be a positive experience. You will be fully informed on the preoperative care, surgical procedure, and postoperative care for your pet. Your pet’s comfort and well-being is always our top priority.
Our Mission:
To provide specialized care and service.
To administer the best possible care to the patient while developing our client's awareness of the professional expertise and specialized care provided their pet.
To attain these goals and further enhance our expertise, we must remain informed on progressive medical and management knowledge.
Mark H. Engen, D.V.M.
You will receive answers to your medical and surgery questions from our trained staff. Assistance will be given to you by our helpful front office staff in making your appointment, answering your questions regarding surgery and other procedures, and instructions for proper home care following diagnostic work-ups and/or surgeries. Our veterinary technicians and assistants are trained professionals in the areas of radiology, pre-op and post-op treatment, surgical preparation, anesthesia and surgery assisting. The veterinary technician and assistant responsibilities include such tasks as placing IV catheters, administering medications (as prescribed by the doctors), applying bandages, taking X-rays and assisting in surgery.
Your pet will receive the best in comprehensive surgical care from the teamwork of our surgeons, technicians and assistants, front office support staff, and hospital support staff. Ensuring you are informed and comfortable with your pet’s care is another important key element in the care our practice provides.
